Zoom on… Quinoa… attention new words!
Quinoa is a species of annual herbaceous plant of the Amaranthaceae family according to the phylogenetic classification or that of Chenopodiaceae ..; you followed me ?! It is a pseudo-cereal, rather than a real cereal, because it is not an herb. Quinoa is closely related to species such as beets, spinach and amaranth.
The ancestor of the ancestors This traditional plant is cultivated for more than 5 000 years in the highlands of South America. In the 1970s, industrialized countries in search of a healthier diet discovered the nutritional qualities of quinoa. Rightly, the Incas called it "chisiya mama", which in Quechua means " mother of all grains ».
What a wealth! In addition to being gluten-free, quinoa is easily digestible, low in fat, and high in fiber, iron, magnesium, vitamins B&E, potassium and protein. It also contains the 8 amino acids essential for human life while cereals have a limiting amino acid. He has one texture of caviar and a light nutty taste. It is easily cooked salty or sweet. When I tell you that it's a superfood! This pseudo-cereal provides 6 g of fiber per 100 g, more than brown rice!
Renowned for its ability to resist extreme climatic conditions (drought, frost), quinoa thrives in an arid environment (need 600 mm of rain per year) where poor soils are exposed to drought, frost, strong wind and strong solar radiation due to altitude. Peru and Bolivia are the world's two leading producers of quinoa. Since 2009, large-scale cultivation of quinoa has been introduced in France and in particular in Anjou . So do not hesitate, think of us and buy some ANJOU QUINOA !
The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 2013 “International Year of Quinoa” in order to pay tribute to the ancestral practices of the Andean peoples who, through their know-how and their life in harmony with nature, have known how to preserve this food for present and future generations. We cannot say THANKS enough to them, let us at least be inspired by their wisdom ...
