Zoom on the ... ROMARIN

When I had the idea to tell you about rosemary, I was far from imagining that there was so much to say… I will let you discover it… in detail!

A little history…
Rosemary has been the subject of numerous historical and legendary mentions. The ancients had great veneration for him.
They were used generously at all feasts, whether they were nuptial ceremonies, funerals or secular celebrations. Brides wore rosemary wreaths, symbols of love and loyalty. We also put sprigs of rosemary under the pillows to chase evil spirits and nightmares. The Egyptians placed twigs of rosemary in the tombs of the pharaohs to strengthen their souls. Rosemary is a symbol of remembrance and friendship. Greek students made crowns from it which they wore during exams for stimulate their memory.
During the plague epidemics, rosemary was very popular: twigs were burnt to purify the air and sachets were carried on oneself, which one breathed when passing through places affected by this terrible disease. History also goes that the Queen of Hungary, who suffered from chronic rheumatism, was freed from her problems thanks to a remedy made from rosemary when she was 72 years old.

Calories and nutritional information of rosemary
Like other aromatic plants, rosemary has above all medicinal properties, discovered over the centuries. If the Greeks used it to strengthen memory and stimulate the intellect, the benefits of rosemary are much more extensive. Bursting with flavonoids, it has in the first place a antispasmodic action et stimulating. It is also used for relieve tensionwhether they are of muscular or nervous origin. This is the reason why it is readily recommended during fatigue and temporary depression.
In addition, rosemary contains phenol acids, substances which have the effect of stimulating bile secretions and facilitating their expulsion. Suffice to say that it is then an outstanding ally for all those who suffer from digestive as well as gastrointestinal problems. In addition, it also has a diuretic effect. In infusion or decoction, rosemary is a real toxin hunter.
Finally, the rosemary effectively relieves rheumatic pain. A few frictions of its essential oil allow stiff joints to regain a second youth.

How to cook and taste rosemary
Consume it as a condiment, always finely chopped so that its needles do not disturb the palate. Rosemary enhances savory dishes by bringing them a Provencal touch. For the more daring, do not hesitate to sprinkle your desserts with rosemary! It will thus wake up fruit-based preparations. It also goes well with dark chocolate and ganaches. Also, consider infusing it in your creams and ice creams to flavor them with its sweet scent.

Idea!
To bring an original and fragrant touch to your barbecues, substitute stems of this plant for the traditional wooden spikes. Take care, before skewering, to remove the leaves (except those at one end) but do not throw them: slipped them inside a small bag in a closet, they will keep the moths at bay of your laundry.

Finally, I can't help but bring you this legend ... Rosemary was originally a plant with white flowers. Before giving birth to the baby Jesus, Mary, would have placed her blue cape on a rosemary planted in front of the stable. The wrapper would have rubbed off on the shrub and that's how rosemary blooms blue ever since. Some see in this legend another possible origin for the name Rosemary, namely "Rose de Marie" (the English name being Rosemary).

There is only one thing left for you to do: run to SQUARE to taste it on the salty or sweet side… Rosemary is the favorite of the fortnight!
