Focus on… the Pure Madness of the month!
Let's start with the beginning… The Combier Distillery is the oldest distillery in the Loire Valley still in operation. Founded in 1834, it has always operated in the very heart of the city of Saumur and benefits from its position in the center of the Jardin de la France to source local produce : fruits, flowers and aromatic plants.
Through its history of nearly two centuries, its master distillers have a unique know-how. Both travelers, gardeners, cooks, engineers and daring and innovative thinkers, they have never ceased to create new essences constituting an exceptional French heritage, recognized since 2016 by the Living Heritage Company label.
The historical stills concentrate all the magic of the Combier Distillery. Ten in number, they are installed in an Eiffel-style structure. 187 years later, nothing has changed, neither the attentive care, nor the love of manual work, nor the demand for results. By following the thread of manufacturing, you will enter a world of commitment, innovation, gluttony, epic journeys, fruits, spices, plants, flowers and ancestral gestures. A place where the scent of perfumes exhales and tastes are discovered in a delicious moment to experience.
The Distillery is open to visitors and will be very happy to welcome you as soon as the sites reopen ... not to mention its expansion which will see the light of day in 2022 ... we are all eager to find out!
Let's get to the facts with the most elegant of liqueurs: Pure Folie is a real ode to strawberries, this small, juicy and fragrant fruit typical of the Loire Valley. With a touch of vivacity brought by Chenin (king of the white wines of Saumur), a subtle hint of spices, mint and ginger, the Pure Folie liqueur is a concentrate of spicy sweetness with a strong character. It will be associated with uninhibited ease in cocktails but also in dessert. Our basil panna cotta with its strawberry coulis with Pure Folie liqueur is a pure delight.

In these uncertain times, these are 2 news that I want to present to you.
The Saumur Complet will run well this year from April 29 to May 2, 2021, but behind closed doors.
International sporting and cultural event, Saumur Complet generally combines a Complete Horse Riding Competition (NAF CCI1 * intro, CCI2 * L, CCI3 * S, CCI4 * L), a Grand Air exhibition (excursion to discover works by monumental art), La Verrie'Table (7 & 12 km nature race), the exhibitors 'village, a farmers' market and local artisans as well as concerts and entertainment for all ages. This, in the open air and in the heart of nature ... ideal for recharging your batteries! All this is obviously in normal times and certainly in 2022
In the meantime, this year, it is taking place behind closed doors: a 100% free digital solution will be offered in the form of Web TV on the website www.saumur.org.
On the program: A sports broadcasting channel from the CCI4 * L, the flagship event of Saumur Complet and an “entertainment” channel with 4 days of programming of interviews, reports, round tables on the themes of the horse, outdoor sports , culture, nature & heritage.
So, why not discover the horse and the Complete in a different way!
I also have to talk to you about our dear Anjou Vintage Bike. Official information fallen this week, it has just been postponed to the last weekend of August! We need more to give up in the Saumur region ... we will do our best to please you in 2021.
The 10th edition of the most retro of cycling tours is therefore making a big comeback in Saumur on August 27, 28 and 29, 2021. Get ready to pamper your bicycles.
