Focus on ... revered rice

No "revered" rice is not angry rice!
According to what legend says, black rice was reserved for the court of ancient Chinese emperors (hence the name "Forbidden Rice") for its nutritional and aphrodisiac properties. In recent years, this rice of Chinese origin has also been produced in certain areas of the Po Valley in northern Italy, where it is called “riso Venere”… “rice of Venus”.

Naturally black, it owes its color to the particular pigmentation of its envelope. Thus, the inside of the grain is white like a classic rice. It's a pleasantly flavored whole rice that is ready in 18 minutes. It gives off a particular aroma between sandalwood and freshly baked bread (but not very powerful the aroma, it is not full bodied).

With a high nutritional value, this rice is rich in iron and fiber. Its dark purple color is mainly due to its high anthocyanin content. Its mineral content (including iron) is relatively high and, like most rice, it contains several essential amino acids.

Accompanied by 6 generous prawns, bok choy cabbage (Chinese cabbage) and our crayfish, curry & liquorice sauce, it's just a "killing" as our young people say ...

Not to be missed !

news

Since our arrival 15 years ago, we have had the pleasure of being a partner of the Military Schools of Saumur. Last September, we had the chance to be invited to a meeting to get to know them better "from the inside". After a word of welcome from Brigadier General Nimser, Commander of the Cavalry School and the Military Schools of Saumur, we set off to explore this high place of Saumur life.

The opportunity to share with you what we discovered there because even the people of Saumur are far from being aware of this news!

Since 2012, the Military Schools of Saumur (EMS) have brought together four training organizations: the historic Cavalry School (present in Saumur since 1815), the Staff School, the Intelligence School of the Army of Earth and the Inter-armed Center for Nuclear, Radiological, Biological and Chemical Defense.

Saumur also has one of the Army's most important simulation platforms where trainees carry out tactical exercises. It is made available primarily to trainees but also to regiments. They work in real resources, either in the room or from their vehicle. They set up as if they were in operation, describes General Nimser. We were even able to enter the room of the simulators, real life-size “video games” in which the trainees take place.
At the Intelligence School, we discovered the decontamination protocols used in the event of war for military personnel as well as civilians if necessary… no less than 7 very distinct airlocks & stages are necessary to come out all beautiful and clean!
Finally, the visit ended in a huge hangar with the last armored vehicles in exercise including the still impressive Leclerc tank… you only see a piece of it in the attached photo… but I would not stay in front of it. he was coming towards me !!
