THEIrish coffee (in French Irish coffee) is a cocktail made from coffee, sugar, whiskey and cream.

This drink would have been created by Joseph Sheridan in the late 1930s in Irelande, where transatlantic seaplane flights arrived from 1939 to 1945. The passengers, mostly military at the time chilled and frightened, wanted to drink a hot, invigorating drink. It must have looked like a glass of Guinness. The head of the establishment, Joseph Sheridan had the idea of ​​making this drink to restore energy to these travelers. A plaque visible at Shannon Airport commemorates this creation.

While the original version was prepared with liquid cream, which was added to cool the drink too hot to drink quickly, modern recipes most often use whipped cream.
